Duran Duran say getting an award for songwriting, is a massive compliment.
They were last night honoured with the prestigious Golden Note at the ASCAP awards.

" I think when we make albums we've always tried to strive for every song being as good as it can be. And you don't want every song to be a single anyway, you want a dark and shade and light in an album. You want it to be a journey really,... and I think that each one of the songs we've written means a lot to us. Some of them a lot more than perhaps the ones that have become hits.
Getting an award for songwriting is actually probably the best thing we can possibly get an award for. It's always nice to receive something [where] somebody is saying - yes,..well done, here's a prize. But actually songwriting award [does] mean something."
